Speeding is the primary cause of the more than 500 road deaths recorded in Bogotá, Colombia each year.
Bogotá’s speed management strategy — which combines infrastructure, enforcement and communication actions – led to a 30% reduction in road traffic fatalities in 2025.
With Vital Strategies’ support, the Bogotá Secretary of Mobility launched “Speeding Kills. Respect the Limit” in September 2025. It featured a traffic officer reminding drivers of the dangers of speeding and emphasizing the legal and economic consequences, as well as how enforcement serves as a tool to protect lives. It ran for a month on TV, radio, out-of-home placements and social media, accompanied by enforcement actions in the streets. The Secretary of Mobility presented the campaign publicly at a press conference, highlighting the importance of combining enforcement operations with communication efforts to save lives.
